Hilo Photography Club member Mary Konczyk will discuss her progression and present a slide show of her images during the club’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kamana Senior Center.
From 2015, when Konczyk acquired an entry-level Sony Nex 3 camera, to the present time shooting with a Sony a6000, she has quickly moved up the learning curve, capturing images that highlight her growing skills as a photographer — and doing so on a budget.
Shooting with low-cost used lenses, many acquired on eBay, Konczyk has created a portfolio reaffirming the concept of the photographer and his or her skills being of far more importance than the gear used to capture the image. Konczyk will share some of her secrets that have made her photography successful in a short period of time.
The second program of the evening will feature a presentation of images considered by various club members as among the best they have ever captured, with details of the preparation work and equipment used to do so successfully.
The public is invited, admission is free. Light refreshments will be served at intermission.
The Hilo Photography Club membership includes photographers ranging from beginner to professional. Photographers of all ages and experience levels are welcome and encouraged to become members. Club activities include monthly meetings, photography field trips and seminars. Dues are $15 per year.
